There are several challenges to teaching science, being deaf only adds to the obstacles students have to face when learning about biology. To help increase the participation of Deaf students in STEM, the RDZ lab hosted 22 high school students from the Texas School for the Deaf. They toured the campus and participated in a hands-on DNA extraction lab led by graduate student Carlos Baca. Carlos taught a really fun lab entirely in American Sign Language!
